One more COVID-19 patient died in Tajikistan yesterday, bringing a total number of the novel coronavirus-linked deaths in the country to 67, according to the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population (MoHSPP).

35 new officially confirmed cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) were reported in Tajikistan yesterday, bringing a total number of officially confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country to 8,346 as of the evening of August 24, a MoHSPP said. 

7,142 COVID-19 patients have reportedly recovered as of the evening of August 24, 2020.  

Besides, more than 1,000 people in Tajikistan have reportedly been treating COVID-19 at home under supervision of family doctors.

WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom told reporters on August 21 “… so we hope to finish this pandemic before less than two years,” 

By “utilizing the available tools to the maximum and hoping that we can have additional tools like vaccines, I think we can finish it in a shorter time than the 1918 flu,” he said.

The WHO also recommended children over 12-years-old now use masks in the same situations as adults as the use of face coverings increases to stop the virus spread.
