On Friday August 28, Mr. Muzaffar Huseinzoda, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, had a telephone conversation with Ms. Kitty van der Heijden, Vice-minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

According to the Tajik MFA information department, the two discussed the state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral political, economic and humanitarian cooperation between Tajikistan and the Netherlands.

In this regard, the importance of organizing bilateral meetings and holding a business forum with the participation of representatives of leading agricultural companies and business circles of the two countries after the stabilization of the situation related to the pandemic was emphasized.

The parties also exchanged views on collaboration between the two countries within the framework of international and regional organizations as well as the UN and European Union and stressed the need to further expand the links.

In this context, Huseinzoda and van der Heijden expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation in the framework of the International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028" and reiterated their readiness to continue joint work on the successful organization of the UN Conference on the Midterm Comprehensive Review of the Implementation of the International Decade for Action, “Water for Sustainable Development,” 2018- 2028”, which is scheduled for March 22-24, 2023 in New York.

It is to be noted that the Dutch government's three ambitions for development cooperation include eradicating extreme poverty in a single generation, promoting sustainable, inclusive growth that also benefits the poorest and most vulnerable populations around the world, and enabling Dutch companies to succeed abroad.

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kingdom of the Netherlands were established on July 27, 1992.

The Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in Belgium functions as the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Tajikistan has its residence in Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan).

Bilateral relations between the two countries are at the stage of perfection.  The development of economic cooperation could be one of the main directions in the relations between Tajikistan and the Netherlands.

In July 2002, an Agreement was signed between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands with regard to the promotion in the protection of mutual investments.

In October 2015, a business forum in the field of agriculture was held in Dushanbe with the participation of business circles of two countries.
