193 industrial enterprises and workshops launched in Tajikistan in January-September this year

106 new enterprises and 87 new workshops have been launched in Tajikistan over the first nine months of this year, according to the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies (MoINT).

A source at a MoINT says these enterprises manufacture food products, building materials, textiles as well as products of engineering and mining industries.  

He further noted that those enterprises manufactured import-substitution and export-oriented products. 

In January-September this year, Tajikistan reportedly produced a total of 21.2 billion somoni (equivalent to more than 2 billion U.S. dollars) worth of industrial goods, which is more than 2.4 billion somoni more than in the same period last year.

Compared to January-September 2019, the index of the volume of production of industrial goods reportedly amounted to 110.7 percent.

According to data from the MoINT, about 2,300 industrial enterprises now operate in Tajikistan: 694 of them are located in Sughd province; 63 are located in Khatlon province; 417 are located in Dushanbe; 425 are located in districts subordinate to the center; and 50 in the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).
