According to the data from the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population (MoHSPP), 40 new officially confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) were reported in Tajikistan yesterday, bringing a total number of the officially confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country to 11,456 as of the morning of November 13.

The number of coronavirus-linked deaths remains the same in the country – 84, a MoHSPP says.

42 COVID-19 patients were reportedly discharged after recovery yesterday. In all, 10,853 coronavirus patients have reportedly recovered in the country as of the morning of November 13. 

The COVID-19 pandemic in Tajikistan is part of the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).  The virus was confirmed to have spread to Tajikistan when its index cases, in Dushanbe and Khujand, were confirmed on April 30, 2020.     

COVID-19 has spread around the planet, sending billions of people into lockdown as health services struggle to cope.  The coronavirus is affecting 217 countries and territories around the world. 

The United States, Brazil and India have the most coronavirus cases. Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center noted yesterday that the first case of COVID-19 in the United States was reported January 22, 2020.  Since then, the country has reported 10,400,227 cases, and 241,798 deaths.

In India, the first case of COVID-19 in India was reported on January 30, 2020.  Since then, the country has reported 8,683,916 cases, and 128,121 deaths.

The first case of COVID-19 in Brazil was reported on February 26, 2020.  Since then, the country has reported 5,747,660 cases, and 163,368 deaths.

In Russia, the first case of COVID-19 was reported on January 31, 2020. Since then, the country has reported 1,822,345 cases, and 31,326 deaths.
