There have been 86 officially confirmed deaths from the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) in Tajikistan since the virus was confirmed to have spread to the country, according to data provided by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population (MoHSPP).

A MoHSPP said one more officially confirmed coronavirus-linked death was reported in the country yesterday.

42 new officially confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) were reported in Tajikistan yesterday, bringing a total number of the officially confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country to 11,731 as of the evening of November 18

44 COVID-19 patients were reportedly discharged after recovery yesterday.  In all, 11,105 coronavirus patients have reportedly recovered in the country as of the evening of November 18.

The COVID-19 pandemic in Tajikistan is part of the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).  The virus was confirmed to have spread to Tajikistan when its index cases, in Dushanbe and Khujand, were confirmed on April 30, 2020.

Meanwhile, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has allocated 20.3 million U.S. dollars in technical assistance to help its developing members access vaccines for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and establish systems to enable equitable and efficient vaccine distribution.

The funds will be available for ADB developing members to support vaccine-related health system assessments and the development of country readiness plans to strengthen the capacity to access, introduce, deploy, deliver, and monitor vaccines safely and effectively.  Funds will help members assess and strengthen vaccine cold chain and logistics, infection control, supply and skills of health workers, risk communications, and real-time data capturing and monitoring.  The technical assistance will also support the identification and promotion of innovative cold chain and vaccine tracking technologies.
