Dushanbe, Riyadh discuss cooperation in the field of sports

On Wednesday December 9, Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali, who is also President of Tajikistan’s Football Federation and Head of the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA), received Saudi Minister of Sports Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, who is also Head of Saudi National Olympic Committee and Riyadh 2030 Bid Committee President.

According to the Dushanbe mayor’s office, they reportedly discussed bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia in the field of sports.

A special attention was paid establishment of cooperation between the Ministry of Sports of Saudi Arabia and the Committee for Youth and Sports Affairs under the Government of Tajikistan.

Rustam Emomali and Prince Abdulaziz also discussed preparations for the 21st Asian Games that will take place in Riyadh in 2030.         

Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal (born 4 June 1983) is a Saudi racing driver and businessman as well as a member of the House of Saud.  He has been Minister of Sports since February 25, 2020.  Prince Abdulaziz is the second son of Turki bin Faisal Al Saud, the brother of Faisal bin Turki Al-Faisal and a grandson of Faisal of Saudi Arabia.

The Ministry of Sports is the government body responsible for sports in Saudi Arabia. The Ministry of Sports was previously known as the General Sports Authority and before that as the General Presidency of Youth Welfare (GPYW), which was created in 1974.
