The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Utilities of the Russian Federation has proposed to simplify the entry of migrants into the country for work in the construction sector.

The proposal on simplifying the entry of migrants into the country has been submitted for consideration to the Government, according to TASS.

The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Utilities has reportedly agreed the proposal with the Interior Ministry and Rospotrebnadzor (the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing).

It is proposed to allow only organizations, which guarantee the provision of sanitary and epidemiological control.

Migrants will need to apply for patents to work in Moscow, TASS says, noting that according to the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Utilities, 50 of 77 regions of the Russian Federation are currently experiencing shortage of migrants at the construction sites.

Recall, the head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry the Russian Federation (CCI) Federation, Sergey Katyrin, in early December sent a letter to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin proposing to simplify the entry of labor migrants into the country during the coronavirus pandemic.  Katyrin, in particular, proposed to allow highly qualified professionals to come to Russia with their families.

According to him, the CCI has received a large number of appeals from representatives of the business community with a request to facilitate the entry of foreign citizens into the Russian Federation under the current conditions of restrictions resulting from the coronavirus pandemic.
