The first session of political consultations between the foreign ministries of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Sultanate of Oman was held via video-conferencing on January 20, according to the Tajik MFA information department.

The Tajik side was led Khusrav Noziri, First Deputy Foreign Minister whilst the Oman side was led by Sheikh Khalifa Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Diplomatic Affairs.  

The sides reportedly discussed issues related to the state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

They reportedly exchanged views on growing relations between Tajikistan and Oman in political, economic, commercial, scientific and cultural fields.

They reportedly also supported joint investments and activating trade exchange between the two friendly countries. 

The sides noted the importance of establishing high-level contacts and exchange of visits to facilitate the expansion of bilateral cooperation and the implementation of the Executive Program between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries for the period 2020-2022, which was signed during the official visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan to Muscat on December 19, 2019.

The Times of Oman notes that the two sides expressed keenness to develop and strengthen these relations for the interest of the two friendly countries.  The consultations session was attended by officials from the foreign ministries of the two countries.
