Twelve people were injured on January 25 as a gas cylinder exploded in the northern city of Panjakent, Sughd province.

According to the Interior Ministry’s press center, the accident took place at the “Samarqand” choikhona (teahouse) in the center of Panjakent in the afternoon.  

The gas cylinder explosion reportedly occurred due to non-observance of safety precautions.  As a result of the explosion, twelve people were injured.   All the injured persons were taken to a hospital.  The condition of the victims is not specified 

The Interior Ministry says all circumstances of the accident are currently being investigated.

The “Samarqand” teahouse is rented by a 42-year-old resident of the Amondara jamoat, Yolqin Tilloyev.
