Tajikistan’s privately owned carrier Somon Air has lowered passenger fares on charter flights from the Russian Federation to Tajikistan by 30 percent, Ikrom Subhonzoda, Director of the Civil Aviation Agency under the Government of Tajikistan, told reporters in Dushanbe on February 15.

According to him, they asked Somon Air to cut fares on charter flights from Russia to Tajikistan and the new rates went into effect in early December last year.

“Tickets for the charter flights from Russia to Tajikistan, previously 39,000-40,000 Russian rubles, now cost 26,000-27,000 Russian rubles,” Subhonzoda said.

He further noted that they had also asked foreign airlines to lower fares on flights operated to Tajikistan.

Subhonzoda also noted that negotiations with the Russian Federation and China on resumption of regular air traffic are still under way.

“Last year, Tajik national air carrier Tajik Air and Somon Air carried a total of 300,000 passengers both on regular and charter flights,” Civil Aviation Agency top manager said.

Recall, Tajikistan began to repatriate its nationals strained in foreign countries due to the coronavirus pandemic from June 25, 2020.

To-date, Tajikistan has resumed regular flights to Dubai (United Arab Emirates), Istanbul (Turkey) and Tashkent (Uzbekistan).
