Twenty-six countries of the world provided about US$3.3 million worth of 387.3 tons of humanitarian aid to Tajikistan in January this year, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

Over the reporting period, among donors countries the greatest share reportedly came from China – 38.4 percent; Russia – 20  percent; India – 13.3 percent; the Netherlands – 5.7 percent; the United Kingdom – 5.1 percent; Sweden – 2.5 percent; Germany and Denmark – 2.1 percent each; Malaysia – 1.8 percent; France – 1.7 percent; Poland and the United States – 1.4 percent each; Norway and Singapore – 1.0 percent each; and others.

Last year, the greatest share among 62 donor countries also came from China – 37.7 percent.  In 2020, China reportedly provided US$21 million worth of humanitarian aid to Tajikistan.

In 2020, 62 countries of the world provided about 56 million U.S. dollars’ worth of nearly 23,000 tons of humanitarian aid to Tajikistan.

Over the past decade, China has been one of major trading partners of Tajikistan.  China is Tajikistan's largest source of investment and the third largest trading partner of Tajikistan following Russia and Kazakhstan.

Over the past decade, China's direct investment in Tajikistan has totaled about 1 billion U.S. dollars.

It is to be noted that before the coronavirus pandemic, China was the world’s largest exporter by value, exporting US$2.499 trillion worth of goods around the globe in 2019.  That dollar amount reflects a 9.9% gain since 2015 and a modest 0.2% increase from 2018 to 2019.
