Hundreds of senior students of schools and university students have trained in Khujand, the administrative center of the northern province of Sughd, under the scorching sun since late May for meeting of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev that will last only for three minutes.  

As part of his official visit to Tajikistan scheduled for June 10-12, Uzbek president will visit Sughd province.

A source familiar with the situation says more than 200 school and university students are involved in the rehearsal.

The Sughd education and culture directorates have refrained from commenting on the issue. 

A representative of the Khujand State University says their students are not involved in the rehearsal.  According to him, only senior students of schools from Bobojon-Ghafourov district are involved in the rehearsal.

An official with the Bobojon-Ghafourov culture department says senior students of schools, university students and professional dancers have been involved in the rehearsal.

According to him, the program has not yet been approved and the number of people participating in the meeting program is still unknown.

“At the airport, we will show only one program for meeting of the President of Uzbekistan and this program will last for only three minutes,” the official with the with the Bobojon-Ghafourov culture department added.
