“Today, we reached an agreement to construct two hydropower plants with a total capacity of 320 megawatt on the Zarafshon River in Tajikistan,” Mirziyoyev said.

According to him, the joint intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation, which is co-chaired by premiers of the two countries, has done a lot, but he asked them to intensify their work.

“I ordered heads of all Uzbek districts and cities bordering Tajikistan to establish effective cooperation with border cities and districts of Tajikistan, and thereby, we will ensure cooperation between the two states at the levels of the presidents, the governments, regions, cities and districts,” Uzbek president added.

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon told journalist that the two leaders had discussed the main problem of the region – the problem of establishment of peace and accord in Afghanistan.
