From June 23-30, 2021, a training on ensuring food safety in the livestock sector based on the Global G.A.P international standard was held in the Kazakh city of Almaty in the framework of a project funded by the European Union,.

According to the European Union (Eu) Delegation to Tajikistan, more than 20 experts and consultants from Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan took part in the training.  Practical part of the training was reportedly conducted in selected livestock breeding complex, near Almaty. The participants of the training, after passing required tests, assumed commitments to conduct similar training in their respective organizations and implement the GlobalG.A.P. system in cattle breeding complexes in their countries and consolidate knowledge through practical application.

The aim of this training was to build capacity of the regional experts and consultants from relevant State agencies and private sector of Central Asian countries on food safety in livestock and poultry sector.  The training was conducted by an EU accredited expert, and upon the request of sector associations in Central Asia.

This training was organized by the "CANDY V" consortium led by the Austrian internationally active organization Hilfswerk International in the framework of the project, Regional Integration and Capacity Building to Boost Agribusiness MSMEs Competitiveness and Trade Promotion in Central Asia – CANDY V, funded by the European Union program "Central Asia – Invest V" and the Austrian Development Cooperation.
