Over the first six months of this year, the revenue part of the national budget of Tajikistan has been overfulfilled by 6.5 percent, according the Ministry of Finance (MoF).

During January-June this year, the revenue part of the country’s budget reportedly amounted to more than 13.2 billion somonis (equivalent to about 1.2 billion U.S. dollars), which was 810 million somonis (equivalent to more than 70 million U.S. dollars) more than it was originally planned, an official source at a MoF told Asia-Plus in an interview.

Over the same six-month period, the replenishment of the budget was facilitated, first of all, by the growth in tax revenues (tax duties included).

In January-June this year, the tax revenues have amounted to about 9.4 billion somonis, which was 71.2 percent of the overall volume of the budget revenue part over the reporting period.

Tax revenues were mainly provided by the value added tax (VAT) – 41.4 percent of the overall volume of the tax revenues, income tax – 11.7 percent, and corporate tax – 10.6 percent, the source said.

The combined share of these three taxes in the structure of tax revenues in January-June this year was 63.7 percent.

In general, the collection of all taxes in the first half of this year has been reportedly exceeded.

Tajik tax official attribute this to the growth of the country's economy, creation of new jobs, improved administration, improved service to taxpayers, and high-quality supervision.
