Japan’s government supports enhancement of health sector in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, August 19, 2021, Asia-Plus – A signing ceremony for three new projects was convened at the Embassy of Japan in Dushanbe on August 18.  

Japan’s Embassy in Dushanbe sys the grant contracts were signed between the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Tajikistan Takayuki Miyashita and the representatives of the recipient organizations.

A total grant provided to three beneficiaries amounts 279,643 U.S. dollars. 

The three new projects, funded under the scheme of Japan`s Grant Assistance for Grassroots

Human Security Projects (GGP), are:

 

– The Project for Construction of Medical Point in Navkent Village, Bunjikat Jamoat, Shahriston District, signed with Mr. Bahodur Akramzoda, Chairperson of Shahriston District, for the amount of 96,767 USD;

– The Project for Improvement of Medical Equipment of National Scientific Cancer Center of the Republic of Tajikistan, signed with Mr. Zafar Huseinov, Director of National Scientific Cancer Center of the Republic of Tajikistan, for the amount of 91,443USD;

– The Project for Improvement of Medical Equipment of City Healthcare Center No.13 in Dushanbe City”, signed with Mr. Homidjoni Hamidzoda, Director of City Healthcare Center No.13 in Dushanbe City, for the amount of 91,433 USD.

 

During the ceremony, Mr. Miyashita made a following remark: “Health Sector is one of our priorities in Japan – Tajik bilateral cooperation.  The new facility and a lot of high-quality equipment, provided by these projects, will definitely contribute to the accurate diagnosis of the doctors and the best possible treatment for the patients, all of this will result in a long, healthy and happy life of the people.  I look forward to seeing happy faces of men and women who will be leaving the respective hospitals after successful treatments. I am sure this will happen in a very near future. I reiterate the strong commitment of the Government of Japan to continue to support vulnerable population in a community inclusively under the slogan “No One Should Be Left Behind.”

Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP) is provided to local governments, educational/ medical institutions and International NGOs in addressing development needs in the areas such as education, health, water supply and the environment. GGP supports projects in the human security sectors at the grassroots level. As of today, GGP has supported 424 projects in the Republic of Tajikistan, for which more than US$ 34.3 million has been provided since 1996.
