The press center of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population (MoHSPP) says that 34.5 percent of Tajikistan’s adult population has been vaccinated against COVID-19 to date.

As of the evening of August 31, 2,009,748 people have been vaccinated in the country; 798,308 of them have got both COVID-19 vaccine shots, according to the MoHSPP press center.

The press center further noted that the coronavirus vaccination campaign in Dushanbe has reached 91.7 percent to date.

To-date, 4,760,740 doses of the COVID-19 vaccines have been delivered to the country.  Three coronavirus vaccines are used in Tajikistan: Moderna; AstraZeneca; and CoronaVac.

Recall, Tajikistan’s state-run media reported on July 3 that Tajikistan’s coronavirus task force has ordered all citizens over the age of 18 to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

"Coronavirus vaccination is mandatory for citizens over 18 years," the Inter-Agency Standing Committee on COVID-19 Preparedness and Response (Standing Committee) said, according to the Khovar news agency.

It added that citizens should book an appointment with their doctor or their local clinic to receive a free vaccination. Until now, vaccination was optional in the country.

The Standing Committee said the mandatory vaccination order was to counter the spread of COVID-19 in Tajikistan.

It also called on citizens returning to Tajikistan from abroad and visitors to isolate for 10 days even if they test negative, Khovar reported.

In addition, it encouraged Tajiks to limit the size of weddings and other events to the fewest number of people, but it didn’t specify a number.
