The second signing ceremony for 4,000,000 somoni was conducted on September 6

 

On September 6, 2021, signing ceremony for four new projects was convened at the Embassy of Japan in Dushanbe. The grant contracts were signed between Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Tajikistan, H.E. Mr. MIYASHITA Takayuki and the representatives of the recipient organizations. The total grant of Government of Japan for the projects amounts to 364,969 USD.

The four new projects, funded under the scheme of Japan`s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP), are;

  • “The Project for Construction of School No.38 in Gulteppa Village, Dahana Jamoat, Kulob City”, signed with Mr. Abdulqodir VALIZODA, Chairperson of Kulob City, for the amount of 91,793 USD;
  • “The Project for Construction of School No.68 in Obkul Village, Chorbogh Jamoat, Varzob District”, signed with Mr. Umar SHERALIZODA, Chairperson of Varzob district, for the amount of 90,181 USD;
  • “The Project for Construction of School No.30 in Yarm Village, Langar Jamoat, Kuhistoni Mastchoh District”, signed with Mr. Khayrullo BOBOZODA, Chairperson of Kuhistoni Mastchoh district, for the amount of 92,590 USD;
  • “The Project for Construction of School No.8 in Zarnisor Village, Saif Rahimi Jamoat, Baljuvon District”, signed with Mr. Sherali JALILZODA, Chairperson of Baljuvon district, for the amount of 90,405 USD.

During the ceremony, H.E. Mr. MIYASHITA Takayuki made a following remark: “It is my great pleasure to complete the signing marathon of Grant Contracts for school construction today. Last week 6 contracts were signed and now we are starting the construction of all together 10 new schools in Tajikistan. I am sure children will be happy to study in new class rooms and they eagerly study hard for themselves and also for the country. It is my great pleasure to be a part of the endeavors of the Government of Tajikistan to develop the country to a higher level by means of education.”

Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP) is provided to local governments, educational/ medical institutions and International NGOs in addressing development needs in the areas such as education, health, water supply and the environment. GGP supports projects in the human security sectors at the grassroots level. As of today, GGP has supported 434 projects in the Republic of Tajikistan, for which more than US$ 35.5 million has been provided since 1996.
