During the operation at the garbage dump in the city of Buston, 2,048 items of expired and low-quality medicines, cosmetics and hygiene products weighing 13,550 kilograms were destroyed by burning, for a total amount of 773,239.36 somoni.

Almost half of the total volume of destroyed medicinal and hygienic products are confiscated on the basis of a written request on the presence of expired funds from the owners of pharmacies and sales outlets to the Main Directorate of the State Surveillance of Healthcare and Social Protection of the Population of Tajikistan in the Sughd region, said Ilkhom Pulodzoda – Head of the Main Directorate of the Service for State Supervision of Healthcare and Social Protection of the Population of Tajikistan in the Sughd Region.

«It is gratifying that some owners of pharmacies and outlets for the sale of hygiene products, showing a high sense of civic responsibility, themselves officially contact us about the availability of expired medicines. On the basis of such written statements, 6,240 kg of medicines with a total value of 633,322 somoni were destroyed», – noted Pulodzoda.
