President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Dushanbe to participate in a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the SCO.

At the Dushanbe International Airport he was met by the Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kohir Rasulzoda and other officials.

Later, the plane of Iranian President Sayyid Ibrahim Raisi landed at the Dushanbe airport. his is Raisi's first foreign visit after being elected President of Iran.

The Iranian leader was also met by Kohir Rasulzoda.

Yesterday, a meeting was held between the presidents of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, Iran – Ibrahim Raisi and the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan.

All of them today, September 17, will take part in a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO Member States, dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the formation of the organization..

Following the results of the SCO summit in Dushanbe, the heads of the SCO member states are expected to make decisions on launching the procedure for accepting Iran as a full-fledged SCO member state.
