On Thursday November 18, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Tajikistan Takayuki Miyashita together with Muzaffar Saidalizoda, Director of Central Clinic No. 3 in Dushanbe, attended the handover ceremony of successful completion of “The Project for Improvement of Medical Equipment of Central Clinic No. 3 in Dushanbe City.”

According to Japan’s Embassy in Dushanbe, the project was implemented within the framework of Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP). For equipping the clinic, the grant of US$90,850 was provided to Central Clinic No.3.  With the successful project completion, the users of the clinic have an opportunity to receive improved medical services.

Prior to the project implementation, the clinic reportedly faced difficulties, because the existing X-ray system had been used for a long time and needed to be replaced.  With the new X-ray system, the quality of diagnosis at the clinic will improve and more than 20,000 patients who need to take X-ray examination in one year in the area can get a great benefit.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Miyashita made the following remarks, “It is my great pleasure to handover a brand new X-Ray system to this hospital today, to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of State Independence of Tajikistan.  This high quality X-ray system will contribute to accurate diagnosis of the doctors and to effective treatments for the patients.  I hope the equipment will be maintained properly and contribute to the healthy life of the people in Tajikistan for many years to come”.

The Government of Japan is dedicated to continuing its support for creating a better society for all people and committed to working together with the people of Tajikistan.

Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Project (GGP) is a scheme within Japan’s Official Development Assistance.  GGP, in particular, implements grassroots-level projects in various sectors throughout Tajikistan.  Recipients of GGP grants include local governments, educational and medical institutions, and NGOs.  As of today, GGP has supported 437 projects in Tajikistan, for which US$35.8 million has been allocated since 1996.
