On Friday November 19, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali attended an official ceremony of opening of a private high school “Horizon” in Dushanbe’s Sino District.

The president’s official website says this education institution has been built by local entrepreneurs Zohir Boqiyev and Navrouz Yunusov.

The courses in this school are taught in English under the STEAM Education system.

It is to be noted that many education experts regard STEAM (and its predecessor STEM) as an essential component of 21st century education.

STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

STEAM fields are the areas of science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics. … These programs aim to teach students innovation, to think critically and use engineering or technology in imaginative designs or creative approaches to real-world problems while building on students' mathematics and science base.
