A road connecting the administrative center of Rushan district with Bartang jamoat in the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region, or GBAO, has reportedly reopened for traffic after being cleared of snow.

Recall, torrential rain and heavy snowfall on January 6 caused an avalanche near Savnob village in Bartang jamoat of Rushan district that blocked the road connecting the administrative center of Rushan district and Bartang jamoat, the press center of the Emergencies Committee under the Government of Tajikistan said Friday (January 7) afternoon.

No injured was reported, according to the source.

The avalanche reportedly occurred on the 92nd kilometers of the Rushan-Bartang road.  The work on clearing the road of snow reportedly concluded Friday evening.

The Emergencies Committee, however, advises people throughout much of the country not to travel unnecessarily to mountain areas.

The Emergencies Committee also calls on residents and guests of Tajikistan to be careful and in case of emergencies call the following phone numbers: 112; and 93 880 28 19.
