A Tourism Week of Tajikistan is being held in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) from January 9 to January 22 on the sidelines of the ongoing Expo 2020 Dubai, according to the Tourism Development Committee under the Government of Tajikistan.

A tourism forum titled “Eco Tourism in Tajikistan” took place in Dubai on January 16.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the forum, the first deputy head of the Tourism Development Committee Habibullo Amirbekzoda and Tajikistan’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Bahodour Sharifi reportedly told those present about Tajikistan’s enormous tourism opportunity, including ecotourism, historical-cultural tourism, health tourism and mineral springs walking tours.

After the forum, its participants visited Tajikistan’s pavilion at the Expo 2020 Dubai to get acquainted with Tajikistan’s tourism opportunities, its curative mineral springs, rare animals found in the country history and culture of Tajikistan, its export opportunities, samples of industrial goods produced by Tajikistan, opportunities of investment in Tajikistan’s economy, and achievements made by Tajikistan during the period of independence.

According to data from the Tajik Embassy in UAE, more than 350,000 guests have visited Tajikistan’s pavilion at the Expo 2020 Dubai to date.

Expo 2020 is a World Expo, currently hosted by Dubai in the United Arab Emirates from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022.  Originally scheduled for October 20, 2020 to April 10, 2021, it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Despite being postponed, organizers kept the name Expo 2020 for marketing and branding purposes.  The Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) general assembly in Paris named Dubai as the host on November 27, 2013.

The main site of Expo 2020 Dubai is a 438-hectare area located between the cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, near Dubai's southern border with Abu Dhabi.  The master plan, designed by the American firm HOK, is organized around a central plaza, entitled Al Wasl, enclosed by three large thematic districts.  Each one is dedicated to one of the sub-themes of Expo 2020 – Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability.
