The agreement between the governments of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan on cooperation in the field of railway transport was discussed at the next meeting of the Council of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, the press service of the lower house of parliament reports.

During the discussion, it was emphasized that the ratification of this Agreement will increase the level of international transport services, export, import and transit of goods by rail between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.

The agreement also contributes to strengthening bilateral cooperation, increasing trade between the two countries, using transit railways and the Turkmen port of Turkmenbashi across the Caspian Sea to access the railways of European countries..

The committees of the Majlisi namoyandagon in their conclusions supported the ratification of this Agreement.

Meanwhile, according to the Statistical Agency of the Republic of Tajikistan, bilateral trade turnover between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan for 11 months of last year amounted to $18.1 million, which is 2.7 times more than for the same period in 2020.
