In a report released at a news conference in Dushanbe, Shavkat Bobozoda, Director of the Export Development Agency under the Government of Tajikistan, revealed on February 15 that Tajikistan last year exported a total of US$2.017 billion worth of industrial goods, which was 51.5 percent more than in 2020.   

According to him, last year, the major items of industrial exports from Tajikistan included precious metals – 41.7 percent of a total volume of last year’s exports, ores and concentrates – 16 percent, cotton fiber – 9.4 percent, primary aluminum – 6.3 percent, antimony – 4.1 percent, cotton yarn – 2.4 percent, cement – 2.1 percent.  

Meanwhile, agricultural exports last year rose 83 percent compared to 2020, Bobozoda noted.

“In 2021, Tajikistan exported a total of US$36.6 million worth of agricultural goods, which was US$16.6 million more than in 2020,” the Tajik official noted.

Last year, the major items of Tajikistan’s agricultural exports were onions (Tajikistan last year exported 95,800 tons of onion, 45.9 percent more compared to 2020), grapes (51,200 tons), dried fruits (42,400 tons), peanuts (2,400 tons), plums (2,600 tons), apricots (2,150 tons), persimmons (1,600 tons), peaches (1,400 tons), cherries and sweet cherries (1,250 tons).

Last year, the major trading partners for Tajikistan agricultural exports were Russia, Kazakhstan, China and the European Union countries. 

Last year, Tajikistan reportedly resume export of garlics, peppers, eggplants and figs in law volumes, Bobozoda added.
