Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament) Speaker Rustam Emomali Thursday (March 3) morning left Dushanbe for Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, on an official visit.

According to the Majlisi Milli press center, heads of a number of the Majlisi Milli committees and the head of the Majlisi Milli’s office are accompanying him on this trip.

At the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, Rustam Emomali was met by deputy speaker of Azerbaijan’s parliament (Milli Mejlis), Tajik ambassador to Azerbaijan and some other officials.

It is the third official visit of Rustam Emomali abroad.  In early December 2019, he paid an official visit to Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, in his capacity as Mayor of Dushanbe.  In May 2020, Rustam Emomali paid an official visit to the Russian Federation in his capacity as Speaker of the Majlisi Milli.

Meanwhile, some experts note that these visits of Rustam Emomali signal his emerging role.
