Tajik President Emomali Rahmon held phone talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on April 8 to discuss bilateral cooperation.

At the beginning of the conversation, the two leaders exchanged congratulations on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between their countries, according to the Tajik president’s official website. 

The presidents reportedly noted with satisfaction the high level of bilateral relations based on principles friendship and mutual respect.  

They highly appraised the progressive expansion of political, economic, security, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

During the conversation, Rahmon and Putin also exchanged views on a number of international and reginal issues, including the situation in Afghanistan and along Tajikistan’s common border with Afghanistan.
