Belarusian authorities are concerned over the decrease in the supply of Belarusian goods to Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. 

BelTA.by says that speaking at a session of the CIS Council of Heads of Government, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko noted on May 20 that the volume of the supply of the Belarusian goods to Tajikistan and Turkmenistan has decreased. 

Meanwhile, according to data from the Customs Service of Tajikistan, the two-way trade between Tajikistan and Belarus over the first quarter of this year has valued at about 13.9 million U.S. dollars.  This consisted of Tajikistan’s exports to Belarus estimated at 1.25 million U.S. dollars and Tajikistan’s imports from Belarus worth 11.4 million U.S. dollars.  

In 2021, the bilateral trade between Tajikistan and Belarus reportedly valued at 126.1 million U.S. dollars (a 12.6 percent increase compared to 2020).  

According to data from the Belarusian Embassy in Dushanbe, Belarus’s direct investment in Tajikistan last year totaled 296 million U.S. dollars (74-fold increase compared to 2020).

As of January 1, 2022, the volume of accumulated Tajikistan’s investments in the economy of Belarus has amounted to 273.8 million U.S. dollars.  

More than 20 facilities of the commodity-producing network of Belarusian enterprises (without participation of Belarusian capital) now operate in Tajikistan.

Besides, the Tajik-Belarusian joint venture Vatan Ltd (a dairy producing enterprise) now operates in Tajikistan.  Tajikistan owns 90 percent of the shares and the Belarusian company Minsk Dairy Plant No 1 assumes the 10% ownership interest in Vatan Ltd. 

The assembly of Belarusian tractors and trailers has been arranged at the Closed Joint-Stock Company (CJSC) Agrotekhservis (Agritech Service) in Hisor district.
