A Tajik-Iranian Tourism Forum took place in Tehran on June 9 at the initiative of the Embassy of Tajikistan in Tehran and in cooperation with the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Tajik MFA information department says the event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Iran and the Tourism Development Committee under the Government of Tajikistan and senior representatives of tourism companies of both countries, associations, exhibitions and mass media.

Inaugurating the forum, Tajikistan Ambassador to Iran, Mr. Nizomiddin Zohidi, reportedly highlighted the current state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran in the light of the recent official visit of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon to Iran (May 29-30, 2022).

In this regard, it was noted that the signing of bilateral documents in various fields during this visit has created a favorable basis for expansion of cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran in various fields, including tourism. 

In statements delivered at the forum, top managers of Tajikistan’s tour companies – Orient Tour, Rasoul Tour, Go Travel and Khidmatrasonii Sayohi – reportedly presented the tourist potential areas of Tajikistan.

Photos and a documentary about Tajikistan’s attractions were showcased on the sidelines of the forum that resulted in signing of a number of cooperation documents, according to the Tajik MFA information department.     

Recall, Deputy Chairman of the Tourism Development Committee under the Government of Tajikistan, Habibullo Amirbekzoda, heading a Tajik delegation, visited Iran last month to work on the document on cooperation in the field of tourism.

IRNA says the delegation members included senior experts from the Foreign Relations Department of the Executive Office of the President of Tajikistan, and some other tourism experts of Tajikistan and they travelled to Iran to work on the Executive Tourism Plan between Tehran and Dushanbe.

It was reportedly scheduled that during the future visit of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon to Tehran, this document will be signed by Iranian Minister of Tourism and Cultural Heritage and Tajik Chairman of the Tourism Development Committee.

Recall, a program of cooperation between the Tourism Development Committee under the Government of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Iran was signed during the recent visit of Emomali Rahmon to Iran.  

Besides, during the visit of Tajik tourism delegation to Tehran, the first joint technical committee of Iran-Tajikistan Tourism minutes of meeting was prepared, and Iran's Deputy Tourism Minister Ali-Asghar Shalbafian and Deputy Chairman of the Tajik Tourism Development Committee, Habibullo Amirbekzoda signed the  minutes of meeting.
