Experts said that the diesel fuel price hike has resulted from the rising cost of it in countries providing the bulk of Tajikistan’s fuel imports.  Moreover, those countries have reportedly limited diesel fuel sales in connection with harvest season.

In GBAO, the price for one liter of LNG on July 1 was 6.80 somonis (2.14-decrease compared to June 1, when the price of one liter of LNG in Khorog was 7.00 somonis).

According to data from the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, gasoline prices have fallen on average 1.8 percent over the first five months of this year.  LNG prices have reportedly fallen 16.1 percent over the same five-month period.

In January-May this year, Tajikistan has reportedly imported more than US$230 million worth of about 290,000 tons of petroleum products.

Russian has provide the bulk of Tajikistan’s gasoline and diesel fuel imports – about 90 percent, and Kazakhstan has provided the bulk of Tajikistan’s LNG imports – more than 90 percent.
