Some airlines expected to lower passenger fares on flights to Russia beginning on September 7

Some air carriers operating fights from Tajikistan to Russia are expected to lower passenger fares next month.   

Thus, new rates on route from Dushanbe to Moscow will go into effect on September 7. 

According to information posted on Ural Airlines’ website, a ticket for the Dushanbe-Moscow flight, currently 30,000-33,000 Russian rubles (equivalent to 4,938.00-5,431.00 somonis), will cost from 19,000 to 23,000 Russian rubles (equivalent to 3,127.00-3,785.00 somonis).

The introduction of the new rate is reportedly connected with a seasonal increase in passenger traffic from Dushanbe to Moscow and seasonal decrease in passenger traffic from Moscow to Dushanbe.  

According to information posted on the official website of Tajikistan’s privately owned air carrier Somon Air, a ticket on the Dushanbe-Moscow flight currently costs 4,626-5,071 somonis (equivalent to US$472.00-US$492.00), and the current price for ticket for the Moscow-Dushanbe flight is 1,966 somonis (equivalent to US$191.00) . 

The current price for ticket from the Tajik northern city of Khujand to Moscow is 4,626 somonis (equivalent to US$449.00) and a ticket for the Moscow-Khujand flight currently costs 1,314 somonis (equivalent to US$127.00).  

Meanwhile, passenger complain that prices for air tickets have risen significantly in recent months. 

The price for air tickets on the Dushanbe-Moscow flight indicated on airlines’ official websites starts from 4,800 somonis (equivalent to US$472.00), while air ticket offices in Dushanbe reportedly sell them for 5,100-6,400 somonis.

Therefore, many potential labor migrants waiting for the opening of the railway communication with the Russian Federation.

The first passenger train is scheduled to depart from the Tajik city of Kulob to the Russian city of Volgograd on August 16.   The train ride is expected to cost 2,500-3,000 somonis.
