On September 1, President of the Republic Emomali Rahmon and UN Secretary-General António Guterres discussed by telephone the current state and prospects for cooperation between Tajikistan and the UN.

The parties discussed sustainable development, ensuring peace, stability and regional security, the press service of the head of state reports.

" Emomali Rahmon expressed Tajikistan's readiness to continue constructive cooperation with the UN and its structural institutions in all these areas", – the press service reports.

The situation in Afghanistan, issues related to strengthening the border of Tajikistan with this country and the continuation of humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people were also discussed.

" The UN Secretary General highly appreciated the pragmatic policy and position of Tajikistan in finding ways to resolve pressing issues of the regional and international agenda ", – the press service reports.
