A meeting was held in Dushanbe on November 21 to discuss a draft digital program for registration of unemployed, which is currently under development, according to the Ministry of Labor, Migration and Employment of the Population (MoLMEP).

An official source at a MoLMEP says representatives of UNDP, Donish-Soft Company and senior representatives of the ministry participated in the meeting.

The meeting participants, in particular, discussed functions of the Portal for registration of Unemployed and the Platform Development Methodology.

It was noted that the program “will allow ensuring transparency and reliability of the activities of employment agencies as well as access of unemployed to the employment agency services."

“The development of the program will last until January and then it will be launched in some districts, and if everything goes well, it will be launched throughout Tajikistan,” the source said, noting that the program is being developed under support of UNDP.

According to official statistics, 55,400 unemployed people, with 50.4 percent (27,900 people) of them being women, have been registered with the Agency for Labor and Employment at the end of August this year, which is 2.7 percent more compared to August last year.

Current unemployment rate, which is the ratio of the officially registered unemployed people to the total labor force, in Tajikistan is reportedly 2.1 percent.
