A meeting of the Central Committee of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDPT) took place in Dushanbe on November 30.

In a report delivered at the meeting, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, who is also leader of the PDPT, noted that “the world today is in a difficult situation.”

“The clash of interests of the superpowers for the redistribution of the world and access to natural resources, rapid armament, the beginning of the new phase of the cold war, intensification of information wars and cybercrime, as well as climate change and its consequences, spread of infectious diseases and other problems have led to the fact that the hardest time of the live of the inhabitants of the planet has come,”  Rahmon said.

Further head of state spoke about the activities of the party, underlining that the PDPT “plays an active role in political and public life of Tajikistan and makes a worthy contribution to the formation of political culture.”

In his speech, the president also pointed to the necessity of intensifying activities of the party factions in parliament and strengthening collaboration with the party’s executive committees in the regions.

A number of staff changes were reportedly introduced during the meeting.  Thus, Suhrob Raufzoda was appointed editor-in-chief of the party’s mouthpiece Minbari Khalq, replacing Bakhtiyor Hamdamov, who was relieved of his post of Minbari Khalq editor-in-chief in connection with transfer to another job.

The PDPT is the only political party in Tajikistan that has its offices in Dushanbe and in a number of cities and districts of the country.

The party now has its offices in eighteen cities and districts across the country.  In some districts, the party rents buildings for its district organizations.
