Nearly 16,000 tons of humanitarian aid delivered to Tajikistan last year

Fifty-nine countries of the world provided 140,899,200 U.S> dollars’ worth of 15,806,900 tons of humanitarian aid to Tajikistan in 2022, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

In value, this is 30 million U.S. dollars more than in 2021.

In 2022, among donor countries the greatest share reportedly came from China – 32.6 percent; the United States – 24.5 percent; Belgium – 6.5 percent; India – 5.2 percent; Japan and Russia – 3.5 percent each; the Netherlands and Sweden – 1.9 percent each; Uzbekistan – 1.3 percent; the Republic of Korea – 1.2 percent; Turkiye and Germany – 0.8 percent each; and others.  

Tajikistan belongs to low-income countries, who receive humanitarian aid as well as financial aid from international financial institutions — grants and highly concessional loans, technical aid. 

A total cost of humanitarian aid received by Tajikistan last year is 2.5 times higher than grants of international financial institutions planned for 2023 to support the country’s public budget.
