Tajikistan-Kazakhstan business forum results in signing of 40 cooperation documents worth US$2.6 billion, says Khovar news agency

A Tajikistan-Kazakhstan business forum that took place in Kazakhstan’s capital, Astana, on May 3 on the sidelines of Tajik President Emomali Rahmons’ state visit to Kazakhstan has resulted in signing of 40 cooperation documents totaling worth 2.6 billion U.S. dollars, Khovar news agency reported yesterday evening. 

More than 200 entrepreneurs and senor representatives of companies and enterprises of both countries participated in the event, which was chaired by Tajik Deputy Prime Minister Sulaimon Ziyozoda and Kazakh Vice-Premier Serik Zhumangarin.  

The state-run news agency Khovar says the Minister of Industry and New Technologies Sherali Kabir, the Minister of Agriculture Qurbon Hakimzoda, the Head of the State Committee on Investment and State-owned Property Management Saadi Qodirzoda and the Head of the Committee for environmental Protection under the Government of Tajikistan Bahodour Sheralizoda presented opportunities and conditions for investment in Tajikistan’s economy.  

The parties reportedly also discussed construction of logistics centers as well as wholesale distribution centers in Tajikistan.

The parties also agreed to launch joint ventures in Tajikistan’s free economic zones, according to Khovar.  

Meanwhile, Kazinform reports that Kazakhstan’s ERG Group and Tajikistan’s TALCO signed an agreement on supply of aluminum oxide.

Kazakhstan’s AZK Esentai and Tajikistan’s Hubcham Invest approved a document related to grain processing industry.

Kazakhstan’s Factory and Tajikistan’s Hubcham Invest signed an agreement on wheat supply.

World Construction Astana and Korkhonai Kimiyovi signed a document aimed at cooperation development.

Kazakhstan’s QazTrade and Tajikistan’s Tajakpromexport entered into an agreement on the establishment of TajQazTrade joint enterprise.

Kazinform cited Kazakh Vice-Premier Serik Zhumangarin as noting at the form that Kazakhstan’s exports to Tajikistan rose 21.74% in the 1st quarter of 2023 and made 197.5 million US dollars.

As he noted, Kazakhstan has the potential to ramp up its exports to Tajikistan in 60 commodity items totaling worth 140 million US dollars.

Meanwhile, according to data of the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, a two-way trade between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan over the first three months of this year has valued at 310,383,500 US dollars.  This consisted of Tajikistan’s exports to Kazakhstan estimated at 93,436,200 US dollars and Tajikistan’s imports from Kazakhstan worth 216,947,300 US dollars.

Last year, the bilateral trade between the two countries reportedly valued at 1,441,181,200 US dollars.  This consisted of Tajikistan’s exports to Kazakhstan estimated at 483,915,400 US dollars and Tajikistan’s imports from Kazakhstan worth 957,265,800 US dollars.
