Tajikistan, South Korea vow to boost economic ties

A Korean economic delegation has visited the Tajik northern province of Sughd.

According to the Sughd administration press center, Sughd governor Rajabboy Ahmadozoda met with members of the Korean economic delegation, including Mr. Gon Chon Hoon (phonetically spelled), a member of the Tajikistan-Korea Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation, on July 17.  

The parties reportedly discussed issues related to economic cooperation between Tajikistan and the Republic of Korea. 

They, in particular, discussed issues of attracting Korean investments for launching joint ventures in Tajikistan sending Tajik manpower to South Korea.  

In the course of the talks, Sughd governor noted that Sughd province has produced a total of 12 billion somonis worth of industrial goods over the first six months of this year. 

During the meeting it was noted that the Republic of Korea could also contributed to implementation of the investment projects in Tajikistan.

Sughd governor reportedly outlined the agrarian sector as an area that could drive the bilateral trade between Tajikistan and South Korea.  

For his part, Mr. Gon Chon Hoon reportedly noted that Korea could contribute to development of small and medium-sized enterprises in Tajikistan.
