Cooperation of development partners with the government of Tajikistan

On Tuesday, July 18, the US Ambassador to Tajikistan Manuel Micaller and the Resident Representative of Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) in Tajikistan Qozidavlat Qoimdodov visited the rehabilitated Khojaboqirgon floating pumping station in Bobojon-Ghafourov district, Sughd province.

The AKDN Office in Tajikistan says they were also accompanied by representatives of the district and provisional officials. 

More than 100,000 people in Bobojon-Ghafourov district will have access to water from the rehabilitated station.

USAID Tajikistan and Aga Khan Foundation (AKF), Tajikistan funded six pumps devices worth 6,224,400 somonis and in general, total expenses amounted to more than 7 million somonis that provided water to over 6,300 hectares of irrigated land in Tajikistan and 1900 hectares of cross-border irrigated land in Kyrgyzstan.

Development partners jointly with the representative of the Government of Tajikistan agreed that they can help build economic opportunity and a peaceful future for all the users of this water, regardless of which side of the border they are on, and during the discussion they were agreed that they will try to continue of fundraise for this vital project, according to the AKDN Office in Tajikistan.
