Tajikistan reportedly allocates TJS261.2 million monthly to pay pensions to nearly 769,000 pensioners

In a report released at a news conference in Dushanbe, Dilmurod Davlatzoda, the Director of the Agency for Social Insurance and Pensions under the Government of Tajikistan, said on August 4 that the Government allocates 261.2 million somonis (equivalent to some 24 million US dollars) monthly to pay pensions, which 7.9 million somonis (TJS), or 3.1 percent, more than last year. 

According to him, there have been 768,976 pensioners in Tajikistan as of July 1, 2023, which is 1.0 percent more than on the same date last year.

Current average rate of pension in Tajikistan is 375.53 somonis, which is 52.61 somonis more than last year.           

“Of those 768,976 pensioners, 310,279 receive a retirement pension, 268,627 others receive an insurance pension, and 190,070 people receive a social pension,” Davlatzoda said.  

He further noted that today there are no arrears in the payment of all types of pensions.  

159,443 people in Tajikistan, or 20.7 percent of the number of pensioners in the country, receive a disability pension.  These people are included in the category of pensioners receiving a social pension.

Compared to the previous year, the number of people receiving a disability pensions has reduced by 236 people, or 0.1 percent. 

Current average rate of the disability pension is Tajikistan is 324.3 somonis.  

Of 159,443 Tajiks receiving a disability pension, 17,314 are disabled people of the first category, 77,360 are disabled people of the second category, and 32,470 are disabled people of the third category.
