The Ministry of Labor, Migration and Employment of the Population of Tajikistan explained the recent arrests, harassment and pressure on Tajik labor migrants, which lasted for several months.

"It was a special operation "Illegal", which took place in Russia from May to June," told reporters Shahnoza Nodiri Deputy Minister of Labor, Migration and Employment of Tajikistan.

According to her, diplomatic missions and diasporas were informed in advance about the upcoming operation. "The migrants themselves were also warned about the upcoming raids," she said.

Nodiri drew attention to the fact that Operation "Illegal" is a planned special operation to identify illegal migrants.

Shahnoza Nodiri stressed that these measures affected not only Tajiks, but also citizens of other countries, including Uzbeks, Kyrgyzstanis, even Russian citizens from Chechnya and Tatarstan.

Thus, according to her, "it is inappropriate to talk about pressure on a certain group."

She also noted that the media, including the Russian ones, raised a stir around this operation.

Currently, work is actively underway with the Russian authorities for the organized recruitment of Tajik citizens into labor migration.

Nodiri also said that a meeting of the working group between the two countries dedicated to the organized recruitment of citizens is planned next week. She did not say where it would take place.

"Within the framework of this meeting, it is planned to sign a roadmap that will focus on the education of our citizens. The training will be conducted both in Tajikistan and in Russia using appropriate educational programs developed by the Russian side," she said.

It was emphasized that this aspiration is aimed at the possibility of sending highly qualified Tajiks to work in Russia, in order to provide them with additional income.

This, in her opinion, contributes to improving the standard of living of both migrants and their families.
