The National Bank of Tajikistan, as one of the creditors of “Tajprombank”, appealed to the judicial authorities to resume the process of liquidation of this organization, first deputy head of the regulator Firdavs Tolibzoda said last Friday at a press conference in Dushanbe.

He noted that “Tajprombank” is obliged to satisfy the remaining obligations to its creditors.

According to Tolibzoda, this institution has assets at the expense of which it must return the depositors' funds.

Earlier, on August 7, the chairman of the Supreme Economic Court of Tajikistan, Rustam Mirzozoda, said at a press conference that "on the basis of the order of the Economic Court of the city of Dushanbe, the bankruptcy case of “Tajprombank” has been discontinued since August 1, 2023. That is, the deadline has not been extended."

The judge of the Dushanbe Economic Court, Zulfiya Saidzoda, who signed the decision on the bankruptcy of “Tajprombank”, noted that the bankruptcy case had been discussed for about 7 years (since March 3, 2017) and during this period 5,726 people received more than 148 million somoni of their savings in the bank.

According to her, there are still depositors who could not get their money.

Meanwhile, the special administrator and liquidator of “Tajprombank” from the National Bank of Tajikistan Firuz Sharipov, in an interview with Asia-Plus, confirmed the bankruptcy of this institution and said that so far 169 people have not been able to receive 26.6 million somoni of their money.

At the moment, according to him, the bank's bankruptcy procedure has been completed and until the next trial, the time of which is unknown, the amount will not be returned to depositors.

The bankruptcy process of "Tajprombank" started in March 2017 by the decision of the Economic Court of the city of Dushanbe. The decision to revoke the bank's license was made by the National Bank of Tajikistan on February 24, 2017.

The bank's assets in total amount to 450 million somoni, and the total amount of its liabilities is about 550 million somoni.

The court of the Sino district of Dushanbe found the former chairman of “Tajprombank” Jamshed Ziyaev guilty under four articles of the Criminal Code and sentenced him to 8.5 years in prison.
