The Minister of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan, Ramazon Rahimzoda, went to Russia with two main goals: to discuss the situation with Tajik migrant workers and the issue of the detention of Dilshod Saidmurodov, the main suspect in the abduction and murder of Shukhrat Ismatulloev, Deputy Chairman of OJSC “Orienbank”.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan, Ramazon Rahimzoda arrived in Moscow on August 28 on behalf of President Emomali Rahmon, and plans to meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Kolokoltsev.
The ministers will discuss issues of cooperation between the two ministries on the stay of Tajik labor migrants in the Russian Federation, issues of protection of their rights, as well as the issue of detention of Dilshod Saidmurodov.
Dilshod Saidmurodov, also known as "Dilshod the handsome", is the main suspect in the kidnapping of Shukhrat Ismatulloev, deputy chairman of “Orienbank”.
Previously, he held high positions in various structures, including the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor General's Office and the Agency for State Financial Control and Anti-Corruption.
Immediately after the banker's abduction, Dilshod Saidmurodov left Tajikistan and arrived in Moscow.
Earlier, there were reports in the media that Dilshod Saidmurodov, after escaping, joined the Private military company “Wagner” and is trying to create a "Tajik battalion".
But later, on August 11, at a press conference, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan denied this information. At the same time, he said that in cooperation with foreign colleagues, the Ministry of Internal Affairs would detain him, regardless of which organizations he would be a member of.
Meanwhile, the Embassy of Tajikistan in Russia reported that Ramazon Rahimzoda has already held a meeting with the leaders of the Tajik diaspora, representatives of public and cultural organizations.
It is noted that among the main topics of the meeting were issues related to the importance of labor migration, which has a significant impact on the social and economic situation of Tajik society.
The parties discussed issues related to effective explanatory and informational work aimed at a fuller understanding of the requirements of Russian legislation, as well as proper paperwork and qualified training of migrant workers.
During the meeting held in the building of the diplomatic mission, the Interior Minister of the country called on representatives of Tajik organizations and the community to work more actively to strengthen ties with compatriots.
Ramazon Rahimzoda's visit comes in the context of growing pressure on Tajik migrants in Russia.
In the last three months there have been and continue to be arrests, incidents on the streets, markets, mosques and workplaces. This has caused concern to the Tajik authorities, who fear a negative impact on their compatriots living in Russia.
Tajikistan denies pressure on Russia, but demands respect for the rights and interests of its migrants during such raids.
