Tajikistan has decided to raise the rate of a calculating indicator (estimate) beginning on January 1, 2024.

The RT Law “On the National Budget for 2024”, in particular, notes that the calculating indicator will rise 5.88 percent beginning on January 1, 2024.

Beginning on January 1, 2024, the indicator for calculating taxes, state duties, other mandatory payment, fines and social payments as well as for calculating certain cost limiting values calculating will be set at 72.00 somonis (equal to 6.60 US dollars).

The current calculating indicator amounts to 68.00 somonis (equal to 6.20 US dollars).

Until 2019, the size of the calculating indicator had increased once every two years, and since 2019, it has increased annually.

Thus, in 2015-2016, the calculating indicator in Tajikistan amounted to 40.00 somonis, in 2017-2018 – 50.00 somonis, in 2019 – 55.00 somonis, in 2020 – 58.00 somonis, and in 2021 – 60.00 somonis.

The calculating indicator is set in the national budget taking into account the level of inflation forecast for the corresponding year.

In 2008, the calculating indicator replaced phrases “minimum wage” and “monthly minimum wage” in Tajikistan’s legislation.

At the time, the corresponding law on calculating indicator was adopted.

The calculating indicator is set in the national budget taking into account the level of inflation forecast for the corresponding year.

With the introduction of a new calculating indictor, the amounts of some taxes, duties, fines, mandatory payments and social allowances will change accordingly.

In particular, the amount of fee for alternative military service will also change.  Recall, amendments were made to the country’s law on military service in early 2021.  The amendments came into effect on February 4, 2021 and young men in Tajikistan who wish to forgo the military service may now do so by paying a fee to the government.  A one-month basic reserve service will be organized for those who did not perform conscript service for a fee.  At the end of basic reserve service they will receive military cards.

According to the amendments made to the resolution on the procedure for military service as part of the mobilization conscription reserve, the fee for such a military service is set at the amount of 750 calculating indicators (equal to 54,000 somonis).

Based on the fact that the current calculating indicator amounts to 68.00 somonis, the current fee for the one-one-month basic reserve service amounts to 28,560 somonis (equal to 420 calculating indicators).
