Certificate for importing gasoline into Tajikistan will annually cost more than 4.3 million somonis

Tajik lawmakers have endorsed amendments proposed to the country’s law on the permit system.  Now, the cost of a certificate for importing gasoline into Tajikistan will amount to 60,000 calculating indicators.  Recall, the current calculating indicator amounts to 72.00 somonis (equal to 6.60 US dollars).  The certificate will be issued by the Agency for Standardization, Metrology, Certification, Metrology and Trade Inspection under the Government of Tajikistan. 

Proposed by the head of state, the draft law on amendments to the country’s law on the permit system was endorsed by the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) on December 22, 2023.  

Presenting the amendments to the lawmakers, Tojikstandart head Temurjon Abdulvahhobzoda noted that the mentioned certificate will be issued to the companies, engaged in importing gasoline into the country, after checking the condition and storage conditions of gasoline, the level of services provided and means of measuring at gas stations as well as environmental report and fire safety report.  

According to him, this will help ensure safety of the products  and regulation of the country's economy. это будет содействовать обеспечению безопасности продукции и регулировки экономики страны.

MP Ravshan Rajabzoda supported the amendments and noted that the gasoline supplying companies will pay annually an amount equal to 60,000 calculating indicators (the calculating indicator set for this year is equal to 72.00 somonis).   

Besides, the companies that are being granted this certificate for the first time will have to pay a one-time fee equal to 60,000 somonis (equal to 4.32 million somonis). 

In addition, the companies will have to pay a one-time fee equal to 10 calculating indicators for consideration of the application for the certificate. 

An official source within Tojikstandart has confirmed the information about endorsement of the amendments offered by the president to the country’s law on the permit system. 

According to him, the amendments offered to the country’s law on the permit system are aimed “at bringing the quality of gasoline in line with international standards and fire safety state of gas stations in line with requirements.”

The source further noted that until now, Tojikstandart has issued the certificate for importing natural gas into the country.  The natural gas supplying companies pay annually an amount equal to 54 calculating indicators  

The certificate for importing gasoline into Tajikistan will leader to further increase in gasoline prices in the country.
