Iran’s energy minister said the ground has been provided for the country to exchange electricity with the neighboring states such as Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported on March 5.

Iran has the electricity exchange with most of its neighbors and can develop its relations with these neighbors optimally in this field, Iran’s Minister of Energy Ali Akbar Mehrabian emphasized at a meeting with Uzbek Energy Minister Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov in Tehran on March 4.

Iran’s energy minister reportedly placed special emphasis on the development of the cooperation between Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan in the field of exchange of electricity.

He pointed out that competent Iranian companies are ready to cooperate with Uzbekistan in implementing electrical projects, exporting electrical parts and equipment, constructing power equipment and constructing an equipped production line for manufacturing electrical equipment.

Following expert-level talks between the presidents of the two countries, the two sides agreed to promote economic, political, cultural and historical relations, he underlined, Mehr news agency reported.

The two countries have high potential to expand their relations in all fields, he said, adding that Iran and Uzbekistan can cooperate in constructing thermal- and hydroelectricity power plants and exporting technical and engineering services, etc. in line with developing bilateral ties.

The Uzbek minister of energy, for his part, said that Iran is among the top five countries in the region in the field of construction of power plants, adding that his country attaches great importance to enhancing its relations with Iran in all fields.

Recall, Tajik Minister of Energy and Water Resources Daler Juma Iran’s Minister of Energy Ali Akbar Mehrabian reviewed joint projects through video conferencing on February 28 .

During a virtual meeting, Mehrabian reportedly emphasized the follow-up of the document of Iran-Tajikistan joint cooperation at the 16th meeting of the Tajik-Iranian Joint Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation.   

Emphasizing the readiness of Iranian companies to be active in the projects of Tajikistan, Mehrabian referred to the services of Iranian companies in all fields, especially in the field of large turbines and technical sectors, noting that Iranian companies can help to speed up projects in Tajikistan.

Talking about the Sangtuda 2 hydropower plant and the construction of a solar power plant in the Vorukh region were among other topics at the virtual meeting of the two sides.
