Tajik judokas won seven medals — one gold, three silver and three bronze – at the Dushanbe Grand Slam that took place in the Tajik capital on May 3-5.  In a tem standing, Tajikistan finished fourth. 

Recall, 390 athletes, including l204 men and 186 women, from 65 countries participated in the Dushanbe Grand Slam tournament.

Tajikistan was represented by 37 athletes, including 28 men and nine women.  

On the first day, Tajik athletes won three medals.  Muhammadsoleh Quvvatov won gold medal in -60kg weight category, Obid Jebov won silver medal in -66kg weight category, and Mullorajab Khalifayev won bronze medal for Tajikistan, finishing third in -66kg weight category. 

On the second day, Behrouz Khojazoda won silver medal for Tajikistan, finishing second in -73kg weight category. 

On the third day, Tajik judokas won three medals.  Muhammadjon Abdujalilzoda won bronze medal, finishing third in -90kg weight category, and Jahongir Majidov won bronze medal, finishing third in -100kg weight category.       

On May 5, at +100kg weight category, Tajik judoka Temur Rahimov stormed to final to face the King of judo, Tedy Riner, French judoka, who won eleven World Championships gold medals, the first and only judoka (male or female) to do so, and three Olympic gold medals (two individual, one team).  Riner has also won five gold medals at the European Championships.

Teddy Riner won the gold medal with an uchi-mata ippon.

“I’m very happy today, because after Paris I think this is the best one, with beautiful fans. Thank you everybody for the encouragement," said Riner, according to Euronews.
