According the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) gross agricultural product from all categories of farms over the first six months of this year has been 21.472 billion somonis (in current prices) and increased by 9.6 percent compared to the same period last year, including crop growing products – 14.802 billion somonis (10.9-percent increase), and animal husbandry – 6.670 billion somonis (6.7 percent increase).

An official source within a MoA says all categories of farms have produced 685,340 tons of grain over the reporting period, which is 19,900 tons, or 2.8 percent less than in January-June last year.

Over the same six-month period, all categories of farms have reportedly produced 267,111 of potatoes (5,601-ton increase compared to January-June last year), 129,050 tons of vegetables (11.4 percent increase), 113,747 tons of rice (38-percent increase), 39,408 tons of fruits (21.3-percent increase, 2,705 tons of grapes (15.4-percent increase), 412,965 tons of melon crops (38-percent increase) and 453059 tons of animal food (3.6-percent increase).

Over the first six months of this year, all categories of farms have produced 107,600 tons of meats, including 19,200 tons of poultry meat (6.7-percent increase), the source added.

In 2023, all categories of farms in Tajikistan produced 342,000  tons of meat (beef and mutton) and more than 55,000 tons of poultry meat.

Despite the increase in meat production, this production volume still does not fully satisfy the country’s population requirements in meat.

According to the statistical data, average production of cattle and poultry in the country in live weight is about 235,000-240,000 tons.  Tajikistan is 58 percent self-sufficient in meat.  This means that Tajikistan is 58 percent self-sufficient in meat, which is much better compared to 25%-30% reported ten years, but it is still insufficient and requires further development.
