Tajikistan imported goods and products worth over $3.4 billion in the first half of this year, while exports amounted to about $1 billion, the country's statistical office reported. Thus, the trade balance was negative, amounting to $2.4 billion.

The volume of imports increased primarily due to the purchase of precious metals in an unprecedented volume for the republic by $ 343 million.

Machinery and equipment (worth $378 million), vehicles ($327 million), and base metals ($316 million) also have a relatively high share in the country's import structure.

About 75% of the country's exports consisted of mineral products (electricity, cement, coal, ores and concentrates) and metals, including precious metals, that is, from raw materials.

The Republic traded with 106 countries in the first half of this year. The main trading partners of the country were Russia ($968 million), China ($877 million), Kazakhstan ($669 million), Switzerland ($640 million).
