The Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan, Daler Juma, has paid a working visit to Tehran, where he has held a number of meetings to discuss issues related to expanding bilateral cooperation in the field of energy visited, says the press service of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources (MoEWR).

On September 23, Juma, in particular, held a meeting with the newly appointed Minister of Energy of the Islamic Republic Iran, Abbas Ali-Abadi.

The parties reportedly discussed the significance of the Roghun hydropower plant for the region, Tajikistan’s reunification with Central Asia’s unified power grid and the rate of implementation of CASA 1000 project.

Besides, they discussed possibilities of transporting crude oil from Iran to Tajikistan for its oil refineries.

While in Tehran, Daler Juma also held talks with Iran’s Minister of Petroleum Mohsen Paknejad on September 25.

The two reportedly discussed a number of issues related to further expansion of sectoral cooperation, including attraction of investments in Tajikistan’s oil-and-gas sector and supplies of crude oil from Iran to Tajikistan on preferential terms.

Juma and Paknejad also touched upon the issues of exchange of specialists and exploration of oil and gas deposits in Tajikistan.

Juma’s meeting with Mohammad Haidari, Director General of Farabi Company, which also took place on September 25, reportedly focused on the operation of the Sangtud-2 hydropower plant with consideration of mutual interests, including taking measures necessary to ensure reliable operation of the power plant.
